Since the .15/.17 updates, we have seen a modest improvement in camera quality, furthermore, the RAW mode has shown that the sensor and lens combination can take some decent shots, even in low light

Now, yes, we could all just shoot in raw and learn how to correct the profiles, but, simply put, we shouldn't have to.
It is evident that HTC's jpgs are not being processed well, resulting in poor images.
I've tweeted HTC to ask if there are further improvements coming, and I didn't get a real response. Does anyone in the know have details as to whether they have committed to continue working on their JPGs, or will this have to go to one of the hardworking devs here to do something about?
