Hi guys!
It's been a while since i've been on XDA so I hope my question is in the right place here. If not i hope you guys can direct me in the right direction.
Couple months back i installed Avast anti theft on my Nexus 5. After having issues with the app (started ringing the alarm at random times about sim card being changed, which wasn't the case) i decided to uninstall it. During this uninstall i got an error (can't remember what it said) the app was gone from my phone so i thought nothing of the error.
Then bad things started to happen. Now every time signal gets lost (which happens a lot cause of the place where i work) it doesn't come back. Solution, reboot the phone. Nope, when it boots up there is no signal at all! Even worse, radio is turned off!!! Nothing will let me get my network back. I'm a rooted user and even did a full wipe of my phone! Problem still exists.
I use WUG's Nexus root toolkit to solve issues i have with my phone and i have exhausted all the options it gives me. From restoring a backup to doing a full wipe, restoring factory settings, lock the phone and unlock it again, unroot and root again....
Apparently this Avast software is so deeply embedded in the system nothing will get rid of it, not even a full wipe. The phone is in full network lockdown now, only WIFI works.
For long time i thought it was a hardware problem or an issue with the sim card. However it isn't.
Avast anti theft is built to protect a device from unauthorized use. What if this error when uninstalling the app brought me all this mess.... It started happening when i uninstalled it. So i thought, perhaps there is some residual Avast software left in the deepest roots of my phone...
So i tried to install Avast again so i could then uninstall it properly so it would get rid of software preventing the radio to turn on. During installation It told me Avast anti theft is already installed on this device! Well, i just did a full wipe of my phone and there is no data left besides bare Android.
I really hope someone is able to help me figure out this problem. Up until now i've always been able to solve any problem on Android phones myself through internet help. This time however it seems like i'm really stuck.
I posted a similar message on the avast forum in the hope a service employer would read it and reply but haven't heard from them yet.
If you need any log files or anything to solve this issue please let me know.
