having just got my hands on the Jiayu S3 it has some similar features to other phones for powering up into factory or recovery mode with some quirks.

Factory Mode

How to get there?
Power off phone
Hold power and volume down.

Select menu items by volume down
Action your selection by power button

TIP, reboot phone is the last entry in the menu.

RECOVERY MODE

Is achieved by going into a bootloader mode.
this offers a menu with the following menu

Recovery
Fastboot
Normal

How to get there?
Power off phone
Hold the power and volume up

Select menu items by volume up

Action your selection by volume down

.....YES its not the same as Factory mode
